Getting to Know Marie Busser

Marie has been dancing with Ballet Quad Cities for 5 seasons. She is originally from Clifton Park, New York where she began dancing at age 3 at School of the Albany Berkshire Ballet.  She went on to earn her BFA at the Conservatory of Music and Dance at University of Missouri-Kansas City.

What is your favorite role you’ve danced with Ballet Quad Cities?   Some of my favorite roles have been, Lucy Westerva in Deanna Carter’s Dracula and the title role in Courtney Lyon’s Firebird (2016).

What is your favorite style of dance:  Ballet!  But, particularly, contemporary choreography.  I love working closely with choreographers on their various, unique styles and visions, while being challenged artistically throughout the process.

What are your favorite things to do in The Quad Cities?  In the warm months I love being outdoors – walking, farmer’s markets, the bike path, and enjoying/supporting other local artists.

What is your favorite QC restaurant?  I love the variety of local coffee shops around the city.  The QC Pancake House is my favorite for breakfast and The Faithful Pilot for it’s coziness and wonderful food and wine.

Do you have any pets?  At my parents’ house in New York we have 2 golden retrievers, Brodie and Caera, and one cat named Boots.

What would you do if you weren’t dancing? Probably something else artistic.  As a child, I wanted to be a doctor.  I have a lot of interest in the holistic health and wellness field.

Don’t miss Marie performing the role of Billy’s sweetheart in Courtney Lyon’s Billy the Kid on April 1st!
